ID This fork for me please

This photo was sent to me by one of my bundu customers. There are no brand markings on there that he and I can distinguish, other than the Black Box Carbon sticker.

I have to perform some tele-surgery on this one but I don't even know what it is.

It looks like it may well be an oldish (2002ish) Rock Shox Sid World cup. I have one myself, and it looks identical from the top. Same colour and everything. Except mine has a remote lockout, dont know if that means that it will be another variant of the same thing?

Thank you Sydd (is that a co-incidence?). I looked up the  service manual and the pictures correspond with what the fork looks like on the outside...minus the carbon bits.

I'm on track.

Haha yes co-incidence! My one also has the carbon bits. Is it advisable to take it apart ones self, I know my one needs the seals replaced and I've been quoted R500 to do it. If its worth it I wouldn't mind learning how to take it apart myself. Tele surgery? :-)

Hey JB! I stripped that Marzocchi again. Damper adjust isn't working, so I'm going to open the entire thing tomorrow. Any tips on how to get fork oil off the pavement, garage floor, kitchen couters, cats, car seats?

[/quote'] Bring it around if you're afraid of it or need a high-powered angle grinder.

As fof the oil, I dunno. I see Mr Min is recommended for everything and more here on The Hub. Try that.

Still want that grinded 12mm socket?

Not afraid of it, worst case scenario is that I'll break it completely, in which case I'll just drill holes through the legs, put bolts in and ride rigid.

I think I'll shave the cats, that way all the hair will soak up the oil, the cats will be clean and everyone will be happy.

Managed to get a socket btw. I had to tighten the one bottom nut, it was leaking oil onto the disc pads. Once the oil stopped leaking I decided it's time to open the thing to make sure there's still some oil.

Damn italians.
