Porky' date=' if it wasn't clear in my post, the latest incident involving my neighbour and friend, Garry, happend at about 11 am. Strangest thing is, without the warning of this thread, I would probably have been on that same road, similar time.

Not to say they would have taken my bike over GArry's, but one never knows, they may have taken both. I only left home at 10h30 on Sunday morning. There was a trucker that stopped to help. Otherwise it may have been more than just the bike. (Cell phones and who knows what else.)

Hmm, okay, 11am, fairly late and the road is busy at that time.

It seems they are quite brazen, or, maybe just opportunistic?.

Either way its probably best to stay off that road in the short term, it would be more or less the same distance if you just did the Lido loop (Alwynspoort road) up to the bridge over the highway (R59), turned around and rode the same way back, cutting out the steps, last time (in summer) when I did that loop it was about 52 / 53 odd kms leaving from and back to, the Panorama centre.

Maybe a bit boring doing the same route in an out and back manner, but I would take boring over a possible attack anyday.

No point in tempting fate!.

Joe' date=' only way it is going to get better is if we go out there, catch the baskets and beat the living shyte out of them.

We have to warn as many people aspossible and tell them never to be alone on that section.

Problem is they will then go and wait in another area to ply their trade. I am very much in favour of the former idea of catching them. Beat them senseless and then dump them into the river from the bridge.

I also like the idea of putting a remote detonation pipe bomb into the frame and detonate it when they are about 200 to 300m away. I won't have a bike anymore but at least they will not be able to take anyone elses bikes again.

have to agree though, they need to be taught a lesson.

maybe Delgado has some Kazak Mafia connections we could contract to patrol that area this weekend

Porky, I agree with you about tempting fate.

Have to say though that going that way around, the steps are pretty much a good hill session for such a ride. Otherwise the route is just flat.

As a possible altenative, I may just go down the Rand water road, get onto the highway (just to get to the bridge) and then do Allewynspoort road in reverse direction, and then go up the lido hill towards Mondeor for hill training. Turn around at the top to escape cars and traffic and then go back down. There are somegood hills to train on in Mondeor.

No matter which way we go, there are risks. I'll rather take my chances wth the motorists though. Have never had many issues with them.

Hey, Delgado, dude, what say we set up an ambush for them? Catch the fakers red handed and then tech them to swim in the river. Swan dives from the bridge wearing cement shoes?
