Yeah, nice day out today. Nice photo, that. Where's that? Looks like a race track.

Pitty about your wind yesterday. You just went at the wrong time ;)

That is a race track in Australia...

About the wind - it makes you strong, doesn't it.

It makes me cry like a little girl. I hate riding in the wind. I think I have a mental thing against it

It can easily be a mental barrier.

Those who hurt others in the races, use the wind as a weapon.

I once went out with a guy I was mentoring for his 1st Burger race on a very windy day.

I said to him "Ignore the wind... Respect it, but don't fear it..."

He replied "What wind?"

Like a boss.

I think especially because road racing season is in summer, there will likely be a wind in atleast one of your races and you can't let that get you down mentally. Physically everyone in the peloton is experiencing the wind(well the workers at the front a bit more obviously :P) so if you can just over it, you will be stronger.

Cycling is as much a mind sport as it is a leg sport :P

Yeah what you guys are saying makes absolute sense, but how do I get over it? Just ride in the wind more often? Face my fears?

My tip:

Treat it like you would a climb.

Face it. Work in it. Get exposed often. Get used to it.

Those that train in kind and easier weather will see you pull off into the distance when the going gets tough.

Plan your training course into the wind first.

A headwind back home on tired legs can be confidence-breaking.

Yeah I usually wait for days where I'll have a tail wind home, otherwise I use a different route. Or just don't go at all... I love climbing though. I'm not exceptionally good at it, but it feels like I'm accomplishing something.

Thanks for the advice Dale :)

Pleasure...

Maybe, in time, we can roll together.

I'm rolling long this weekend.

Wanna join me.

Here is the course.

I did it last month on a rental... :nuke:
