Specialized & Poor Customer Service

Recommended Posts

Let me start by disclosing that I am a Specialized fan and ride a Stumpy S-Works 2009.

My mate spotted a small crack on his Stumpy S-works frame and the bike went to Specialised in JHB. The distributor said the crack was from a bike clamp? Funny thing is that his bike clamp fits onto the down tube not even close to where the crack is. Specialised will not even discuss the issue and will thus not replace the frame! What has happened to customer service but alas this is not the first issue with Specialized SA. I would suggest the holding company in the US relook at their distributors and how they treat clients.

Letter in the post.

Dissapointing Specialized SA - pick up your game!

Specialized are very reasonable and I have seen them honour things they shouldn't. If the damage is geniune... and I say that because One of Ricky Bobby's links contain a lot of lies...

You should try harder to sort out with Spesh, before trying to lambaste them on an open forum to elicit a response.

We're all Adults... why does everyone throw all their toys out of the cot on here when they can't find another way?

If what you say is true... then take a photo of the bike on the rack you have and show them that it's not possible for that to happen. The more info you give the better they can form an opinion!!

I can just imagine all the "dog ate my homework" stories these guys hear... I swear I never jumped it bull...

Think about it, form a tight case. Present it. and expect a reasonable answer.

My issue is not with the Specialized warrenty service (Never had to use it), just the reps. Each time I deal with them wanting info on new products, etc, they just seem so disinterested.

Just to note though, I love Specialized, I have a Tarmac SL, I just think that some of the guys there could be a bit more interested in what the customer wants...

Agree with you....

Also why do people feel the need to post on their friend's behalf? Can't the friend speak for himself?

I've spoken to the guys at Le Peloton and they are always super excited about their new products. Don't know who you've spoken to but these sound like people that work for a different company.

Also I like going on the Specialized site. Went there to do some research on products and since then I keep going back. They got all sorts of things including highlights from the XC world cups which are pretty cool...

Claim from insureance is all very well but can push up the premiums. So don't claim unless it is something major and worth it.

Well then you are with a stupid insurance company. I've claimed 3 times this year already and my premiums have not been push up. I'm with CycleSure, they ROCK!

Dont get me wrong, I looooooooove my Stumpjumper - unfortunately not the big daddy Stumpy S-works edition. I was just trying to point sharkysa in a direction, not necessarily the right direction, to give him some food for thought/different opinion/fuel for his fire/whatever. In the words of Felicia Mabuza-Suttle "Lets tok people, lets tok." After all, is that not the objective of an on-line community...? Personally I think 3 threads covering the same topic is a bit of an overkill...

If you go directly to USA HO, they will turn you around and point you straight back to SA... Work through the right channels. They are passionate people, they all ride bikes too I'm sure... so give them a chance.

Think of it this way... A LOT of people now ride spesh bikes, and for good reason, they make fantastic products... the more on the market, the more chance of a problem, the more complaints get aired. I'm sure all the manufacturers have issues.
