Loose cog Posted September 11, 2016 Share Hi guys, I have been lurking on this thread for a number of years now and I really appreciate the information shared on this thread. I am currently busy restoring a Deale and Huth (DHC) with 6-speed Campagnolo Nuovo Record derailleurs and shifters, Weinman brakes and Zeus hubs and crank. The frame has been repainted by the original owner. I would like to have it painted in original Deale and Huth colours. Does anyone have photos of original Deale and Huth frames of the 1965-1970 era? As far as I understand, it is a 1968 model frame.Hi Brian Found this thread you are able to see one or two dhc's. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/47154-anyone-know-of-dhc/page-1 Here are a few pics of my late 50's dhc I am looking to restore/build for next year's Eroica. Strange red color, doesn't shine even after some car polish. Send a PM to Olfie1 he has a very nice blue bike. HeyYou Posted September 13, 2016 Share I agree with you HC. I'm not the biggest fan of the "funny bike" because they hurt in many ways. However I did some beeing (betting?) on an "ordinary" Stelbel as recently as yesterday morning at 6 on ebay. The thing went for just under 11k. I couldn't afford to go higher and was nervous about shipping etc,but was actually willing to sell every bike I own for that one. :-) As a dream frame/bike that would have been the buy of the decade for me...and in my size too...damnit! I'm not sure whether 11k was R or $, or £, but http://www.steel-vintage.com/sold-bikes-and-parts/stelbel/has had a few Stelbel bikes for sale and none has gone for huge numbers. In R, yes, European bikes are expensive, but if it's worth collecting!!!! Also, maybe give Nial a message at http://www.retrospectivecycles.com/he tends to be cheaper than Steel-Vintage and he'll look for the bike you want!!!.You never know, bought my Fantini from him for£150 (when the R was 11/1)

Not really in the market for a new bike/frame since I should much rather be selling than buying...:-) However the one in question went for under R10 000 ZAR, which is probably a once in a lifetime bargain for a Stelbel, even if you add a few k for postage from the US. Don't know if you guys know the brand, but it's certainly the cheapest one I've come across by far. This is no Colnago or Bianchi mass produced affair. Others I've seen were from around R 25000 and (way) up, before postage...I wouldn’t say they’re hens teeth (certainly at that price they are) but Mr Stelio didn’t build too many and I regard them as one of the quintessential “Italian masterpiece” frames. I recall Mark Beneke having a white track Stelbel back in the late 80’s after he did a stint in Italy as “Marco Bianco” if I recall correctly. Apart from that one I haven’t seen another in SA… Edited September 13, 2016 by Lance Notstrong

Yes, the aero head tube is visible and is awesome!!Bad pictures in an ad dont help sellers get premium prices... and that seems to apply here.
