This is the Colnago Master I am using for the Argus. She is a 7 speed. All Campagnolo Record accept for the calipers and rear derailleur that are Chorus.  Biggest gear at back is a 24, but I still have time to get something bigger. Someone got some Record compact chainrings for me? :) post-51655-0-18158300-1456515457_thumb.jpgpost-51655-0-60316500-1456515945_thumb.jpgpost-51655-0-71725200-1456515971_thumb.jpg

Funny that you should mention that......I did last years shorty on the old lady (Colnago Bititan, with C-record. Since added Shamal wheelset.) That little cassette is rough on the legs going up Suikerbossie though.......I'll see what I feel like on the day.

What is the lightest gear at the back DJR, 23?

I remember when a 12-19 straight block 8spd was a common sight. My knees remember it very well too

Yup, it was a different life!

52/42 and 12/19, or 13/19 for 6/7 spd, those were the days, now it's 13/28, and 50/34 and I still struggle to get up the hills!!!

Can only hit 40 km/h going vertically down.

Hey look at this "corncob" DA 12-19, 7 speed nice close ratios. Not too sure what the problem is? I have done several 94.7 on my 1950's single speed with 52-20 gearing and it has many more climbs than the Argus...

Ha, but then you woke up!

Them tracknut types have legs like Freestate farmers necks!

That will look great in my display cabinet , won't work for my old legs up Suikerbossie though :)

Hi all, I need some help ID'ing a frame!

I picked this up over the weekend as I needed some parts off of it. I haven't really gotten down to stripping and cleaning yet, but from what I can tell, it's had a respray. Some more details:

  • Cinelli BB shell,
  • Campagnolo rear dropouts,
  • 3 cable guides on top tube,
  • no bridge between chain stays (indicating a high end frame?)
The BB seems to have a serial number that's rather difficult to read due to the respray. I have a plan to get it on paper which I will most probably attempt tomorrow. The fork is from a Daccordi (Silva d/o's) but I haven't been able to find any leads to it being an original or its use in conjunction with the frame. Here are some (bad) pics:

Looking at the seat lug and the way the seat stays are joined it may be a Daccordi? I am no expert though.

Do you think it might be an older one then as it looks nothing like any of the '80's Daccordis I've seen??

So, to sort of answer my previous question to Loose Cog, that Cinelli cast bb shell seems to only have been produced after 1982. So I guess we can assume that the frame was probably built between '82 - '90.
Correctly identifying could be complete hit and miss, but I personally don't think it is from any of the big Italian makers.
