Hi,

Hopefully somebody can help with this problem.

My Polar CS200 gave a very low HR reading on my last ride - max of 28%! Anyway, I took off the HR strap and it was still reading 28%!!

Q's:

Could the unit be faulty? or the battery in the HR strap dead?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards

Fakes

Wash the HR strap once a week (in the washing machine) and rinse it after every ride.

Make sure it fits nice and tight, I had the same problem but mine was reading 225 intermittently. The people at Polar pointed out that my strap was too big for me (I had no idea that it comes in different sizes Embarrassed)so I just cut it and sewed it to fit properly.

If none of the above works, the people at Polar are most friendly and helpful...

Thanks guys.

I've just tested the unit/strap - not getting a reading at all!.

Anyway, I'll take it in tomorrow to Cyclelab, as I bought it September last year and it should still be under warranty. Don't know about warranty on batteries though - I'll find out tomorrow.

Thanks for your responses.

If your Hear rate monitor suddenly starts reading a un humanly high heart rate then check your shirt, if the shirt isn't a decent fitting shirt then the flapping in the wind taps the chest strap and registers as part of your HR :)

I also found that the contacts (press studs) between belt and transmitter need to be wet or the whole belt doesnt work properly.

The battery was dead and Cyclelab didn't have any spare batteries. Got one from Builders Warehouse across the way in Northgtae for R9,99!

Went for a ride today - everythings fine.
