scuzzy Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Johan, care to tell us what you thing are good wheels, I'm very interested to know, especially since one is so prone to go for what looks good and what sounds like a reputable company. I would really like to hear your input, on both MTB wheels and road wheels.

I rode the DC last year and have as set of ksyrium elite wheels on the bike I was he lightest rider in the group and I freewheeled away from the rest without sitting in someone else slip. some of the other guys even had a higher set of wheels like the Ksyrium sl. What wiuld be the reason for this?
Johan Bornman Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Guys, I've openened a can of works which I have a duty to close again. Even the "quick questions" require quite a bit of explaining. I haven't been fortunate enough to examine each and every wheel on the market. I don't have a shop and I only see stuff that comes in for repair. In that vein, I have never examined a Hed and therefore cannot comment - sorry. May I make a suggestion? Through your local bicycle club or through the leader of your local squad, contact me and make arrangements for me to come and talk to you about wheels. I have a 2-hour Bicycle Wheel Appreciation talk that I present from time to time. In that I discuss wheels in general - hubs, spokes, rims and tyres and then move on to wheels in specific - brands, trends etc. The catch is that I charge a fee, but knowledge is power. In the meantime, I have on several occasions posted various pointers as to hub, rim and spoke quality. If you search for my posts with qualty and hub/rim./wheel as keywords, you'll be one step closer.

AndreZA Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Tyre pressure, wind resistance (seeing that you were the lightest you were proberbly the smallest aswell).
