FanieFiets Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Was at a meeting the other day and they quickly explained why it is not out yet. the years seeding is done using the argus as measure of all races. Because the argus was such a ballsup seeding would have been completely haywire and everyone would have had horrible seedings. Eg. Marius in G group, this obviously couldnt work. Sooooooooooo, completely new actuarial calculations had to be made to do the seeding. A new model is almost complete. It also takes into account mtb races and very hilly rides like cobra giving you a better seeding than a fast flat race. From what I heard the model should be finished this week.

The way in which the PPA have handled this is not professional. The seeding run for the new year was not a surprise and this should have been complted months ago. Most of us pay our fees renewal fees on time and expect a profesional service.

In these slower groups you get the stronger riders doing the pace, pulling the group along, and get nice times. Now, those "clever ones"who rode with also get seeded into "D", So next race in D they pitch but cant sit because if C and D start together, the pace is so much harder, when these new guys start sitting in, than getting tired, they start taking changes in the pack by try to slip wheels, cut infront of the next guy etc,, I.M.O most of the crashes in groups is because riders is seeded to high in groups, and when they getting tired, they do funny thing to keep up. Asked yourself, Why dont you find that much crashes in the A Groups or even B groups? because the guys up there is of the same abillity. I think PPA shouls do away that they count "2 YEARS RACE RECORDS" to do a seeding. It should be based on the previous seasons rides (2 seedings per year)

We train together all year long and do very much the same times but he has done a couple of Argus's more than me. I wrote an e-mail to the organizers with my time for the 94.7 and Telkom Satellite just to be told that it is not used for seeding, only the previous Argus's! Why do I even enter these so called seeding events then?! Can anybody enlighten me please.

[/quote'] you do these seeding events to get a better seeding for the Argus....meaning better PPA group when next seeding is out.
