I have not been on a road bike for some years now and have got used to a Garmin Edge off-road.

So, is it acceptable to the style gurus for a Garmin to be mounted on a raod bike, or is it like a Camelback only for the dirt?  Embarrassed

Confidence is stylish. Style is not a look' date=' it's an attitude. Use that baby on the road and stop worrying about what anyone else will think...

It is not cool to think about style.  The very idea that you are worried about what others think about you, shows that you are not really at peace with yourself.

Wear black socks and a camelback if you want to.  (although the camelback will be detrimental to your performance, and that is why so few wear them on road bikes).

Remember, everything on a mtb is about functionality and survival.  Every thing on a road bike is about performance and speed.

So ask, will the Garmin make me go faster?  if not leave it behind.

Perhaps that should be slower.

road = speed and efficiency

mtb= fun and technique

Road mentality:  slow = leave behind

mtb mentality: will I need it to fix the bike, find myself, get out of trouble, have more fun, improve technique ext, ext= take along.

Thanks Kona, and all others, just pulling the P!$$ out of a mate WinkWink

Actually, I do not give a toss what anybody else thinks and always used a camelbak on the roadbike. Not a MULE, but a 1.5L bladder in a minimalist Classic pack, aerodynamic and not a lot heavier than two waterbottles and cages carried on the frame.

I could not understand why more people did not do so as it is much easier (not to mention safer) to stay hydrated in a fast moving Argus pack when you don't have to reach for a bottle.
