Cycling trips/holidays on Gauteng?

Hey everyone,

 

Does anyone know if there are any cycling holidays around Gauteng or similar group cycling trips? I know there's lots around Cape Town & The Garden Route but haven't found any around here.

Makes me think of that Dead Kennedy's song "Holiday in Cambodia" ? The metropole here is the big ugly if ever there was one! but the people rock!?

Most of us here make gettaways to the country side for cycling, ?at least for mtb, we are pretty much in the middle of the country so have access to a lot of options. I wouldnt really recommend cycling on the roads here unless in a group. ?

What did you have in mind? bringing your own bike??

My personal fav for cycling holidays is a place call Hogsback in the Eastern Cape: its stunning.

Lots of camping opportunities on the Spruit. Everyone is doing it.

 

For something a bit quieter, try Mountain Sanctuary in the Magaliesberg. A bit further out is Mankele. This place is really worth the 3 hour drive.

Looking for a weekend getaway so Hogsback is a bit far. But will check the other 2 out.

Although what I'm really looking for is starting off just outside Gauteng and then cycling somewhere interesting and back the next day.
