i love my rohloff..... Wink

You've got one? Tell me about it! Been dreaming for ages...

The Rohloff is not much heavier than std drivetrain...

Actually.... Rohloff @1.8kg

PG 970 11-34   (295g)

X9 rear der       (230g)

Rear hub          (300g)

X9 triggers       (240g)

Front der          (165g)

Shifter Cables

Housing            (80g)

44t + 22t          (120g)

Additional chain weight (30g)

Additional spoke weight (25g)

300g heavier +-

The greatest distance on a Rohloff hub is 145 000km by Thomas Longing (2009) but many has done over 70 000km on theirs. Rohloff claims that they've never had a hub fail...

+1 on the Rohloff!!!!! One chainring' date=' no derailleur....can't get better than that :) Big%20smile[/quote'] Agree on this one but the price makes my eyes water,

the +1.5kg is what makes me shiver.
`
At 95kg I Don`t care about a piffling 1,5kg.
The actual weight gain is probably closer to 800gms once you factor in the deraileur etc.

Good one dude! My point exactly........(me also 90+kg........Smile)

In my case, a bit of practice and adaptation from steelcrunch (derailleur) gear change techniques.....more weight in the rear wheel, less weight everywhere else (I needed a larger volume rear tyre, mostly 'cos of my extra kg's as well).

Otherwise....absolutely friggin' brilliant.....easier shifting (stationary as well!), no fiddly adjustments, less (almost no) maintenance....and...and....

I run a 32t chainring and 11t cog (see weight issue above), the lowest ratio allowed by Rohloff.

All I want now is a Thorn Sterling (eccentric BB) frame so I can lose the chain tensioner....I'm still dreaming.....

this is my own 2x9 setup, i run the big ring in the middle position and the small one in the granny. its a 40 tooth dmr and 26 tooth blackspire on the front with a pg-990 11-32t in the back. i find that i spend most of the time in the big blade and only need to drop to the small if things get really steep. ive played around with the bb spacers to get the chain line so that i can use big blade in all the rear cogs. it works great for the local trails here, i still need to go try it in Wales for some proper climbs, but i think it will be fine.
