  4. ? So .75 inches less travel than the 575?? Will this bike be even more overpriced than the others? Why didn't they call it the 5 as the ASR is an XC bike isn't it? I thought this thread was for people who don't like Yetis? ASR is the name for the suspension design they use, like meastro for giant or fsr for specialized. i dont know what they charge for them in south africa, but here in the uk they are better value than most of the other flagship, "made in the usa" brands. cheaper than intense, turner, even cheaper than giant and spesh if you look at frame sets.
  5. i have one on order cant wait for it to come!
  6. went to the london cycle show today, loads of fixies/singlespeeds. here is some... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2639/3993193385_75166fd9d7_o.jpg wooden rims http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3517/3993953582_29b0493af8_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2523/3993954046_7ddc41eb30_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2640/3993194311_8d440fc0a4_o.jpg trek carbon bike with belt drive http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2610/3993953068_35501efcfc_b.jpg pk ripper fixie http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3529/3993192649_8304320a22_b.jpg wood effect paint job http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2454/3993191793_db5bb5d0ef_b.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2439/3993192271_18cc0d880e_b.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2611/3993191337_772baa5458_o.jpg
  7. this is my own 2x9 setup, i run the big ring in the middle position and the small one in the granny. its a 40 tooth dmr and 26 tooth blackspire on the front with a pg-990 11-32t in the back. i find that i spend most of the time in the big blade and only need to drop to the small if things get really steep. ive played around with the bb spacers to get the chain line so that i can use big blade in all the rear cogs. it works great for the local trails here, i still need to go try it in Wales for some proper climbs, but i think it will be fine. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2483/3899754427_edc49d5e46_o.jpg
  8. and the zula frame price?
  9. morewoodkid, do you know when the xc bikes will hit the uk shores?
  10. nice colours, fork looks ok, have fun on it!
  11. great idea, you will never be without a multi tool!
  12. its a good bike with a good spec, so hopefully you wont need to "test" the customer service. the other rep must have just been sour that you didnt buy one of his bikes.
  13. i couldnt agree more with that statement!
  14. ordered myself one of these today. should be here middle of august. cant wait!
  15. that is going to look good! what is the rest of the spec? and tell me how you like the mountain king's. im thinking of getting one for the front, just wish they would do a world cup version to match my race king's. PICS PLEASE!!!
  16. First time i see your bike with the spoon saddle on it. You still enjoying it? ive put a new one on the charge, so much better than the wtb i had on there.
  17. this seems to be a favourite past time for people here in the uk. on a stretch of local singletrack, some ramblers(people who walk/hike, mostly old, and think they own the trails) did the same thing. at the shop i work we had loads of people coming in with tacks in their tyres, all saying the been down the same trail. damn wa(n/l)kers!
  18. its just some alloy bolts from a german bikeshop.
  19. thanks, i love this bike! last time i weighed it, it was just over 11kg, dont think i want it any lighter. yes the lockout was on weight weenies. we still havent completed it, fitting a spring inside the lockout is the problem. but i dont think im too bothered, i never use the lockout anyway.
  20. i went to wales, afan, this weekend. did some great riding. bike was in a bit of a state so i gave it a good wash today. ive changed a few bits since i last posted pics. new tyres(raceking 2.2 with latex tubes, awesome combo), put my old charge saddle back on, fitted some i-link cables, new cassette and kmc chain(best chain ive used) and some more alloy bolts here and there. here's a dirty pic: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3280/3525196433_a140aac720_o.jpg and a clean one: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3411/3526003068_417236e4df_o.jpg still rides like a dream, just a bit faster now with the raceking tyres
  21. nice! i saw a team replica on my ride yesterday, built up like absalom's bike. also nice, but i think i prefer yours
  22. no there is no tar for the roadies, its scotland! only for the hard core! will take photos, thats the idea. maybe have some nice ones that Sean and HolyRoller can put in "tread"....
  23. let me know. I see you also take photos, thats the main reason im going, want some good shots.
