Unfortunately my pride and joy that I spent 5 months building was removed from my garage this morning around 8.30am in upper claremont... This is a one of a kind bike so hope that this increases the chances of it being spotted out on the roads. It's a Xtension Xceed frame/Spinner Reasons fork/XT shifters and derailleurs/Juicy 5's/Fulcrum red metal 5 wheels...

Please keep an out for it and contact me on 084 245-8108 if anyone see's it...

This was the photo destined for the photo's forum to show my new build, but unfortunately this forum is now more appropriate.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Same story ie.

1 . police report

2. pamplet with all major details,

Leave out small things no one will know look at. so if anybody does call you can relise if they are a hoax or not.

3. Cash Converters/ Crusaders/ Pawn shops.

Some shops work as a franchise and will send your info/ pamplet to all shops concerned which will save you the time.

4. Personally visit all police station, take the whole of SS

Inform each police station that you are requesting the pamplet to be posted in daily parades to be carried over to the patrol units.

5. Contact CSA so you can send your info out to all cycling groups/ clubs in South Africa.

6. What every you do, do not give up.

7. On a daily base attack a new area if not by vechile then by phone/ contacts

8. if you can show the public/ cyclists some special marks or one of a kind ID marks signs we can immediately recognise the bike.

9. pray

Thanks, I appreciate the guide...

Unfortunately that photo above is the only photo I have... the bike is literally one of a kind - took me 5 months to find all the components so it is a very unusual mix. I have never seen another Xtension Xceed frame and can guarantee cape town doesn't have another with a Spinner reasons fork attached!

The fact that someone (oops) decided that he wouldn't be a victim of good ol' RSA and didn't insure it doesn't make anything any easier...

Will be trying to trace it, but I always admire the ability of these entrepreneurial characters to disappear so not holding my breath...

If anyone knows of any really good sales on at the moment, let me know!

Incredibly enough my bike has been located... the guy traded it in on another bike 1 block away from my house!

The hub is the most connected place I know!!! 1 ad is all it takes... luckily enuff it is a very distinctive bike.

Thanks for the help for those who care enough to keep an eye out for these things and don't just look at them as an interesting read, I really really appreciate it!

Think it's time for insurance now!

Nope, only getting the bike back tomorrow so will get more news then hopefully... doesn't sound promising though... will report back tomorrow if there is anything interesting to tell... at this stage, just a bit in shock. Never thought I'd actually get a phone call about it, didn't even know what to say on the phone (forgot to ask what the guy who called me's name was even, but assume it was Bionic Man)... will call him tomorrow once it's all sorted out to thank him for the help.

Got my bike back this morning (albeit missing a set of crank bro's pedals and a few extra scratches)... Very happy to have it back and going to push the police to keep investigating it and hopefully can catch the people involved... Luckily there are cctv camera's in the road and the guy was in a car so should be able to get some info. from that and hopefully the police can use it to find the person (the guy that bought it from the thief and then offloaded it straight afterwards again).

These are amazingly clever people involved... the bike changed hands twice in 2 hours before ending up with the guy that I got it back from thanks to Bionic Man who recognised the bike from this thread.

I really appreciate the help of both Bionic Man and the person who had the bike who unfortunately lost out on what he had paid to buy the bike...

And I should also apologise to any cyclists who may have gotten a fright from me driving around the southern suburbs like an idiot for a few hours yesterday morning, but I was a little angry and really really hoping I saw my bike on the road.

The third party was fortunately not locked up, feel sorry for him as he is a really great guy.

Please guys, insist on at least an ID number when buying second hand, just to cover your own butts.

Nice ride Shaun, glad I could help.
