Panicking  - i know the feeling dynamite. All to well. Try unclipping ur foot as you slow down' date=' before u stop, but keep a bit of pressure on the pedal but not enough to re-engage. That way as you stop ur foot is already loose. Keep trying - you'll get it. Thumbs%20Up

Yeah, that's the trick to learning, unclip while you're still moving enough to not fall down.

If that happens you prepare for road rash in most cases.

whassup errybody!! ive recently taken up cycling but the cleats thing aint happening for meAngry. Its driving me insane and I've fallen so many times. Is there anything wrong with getting normal pedals just to at least see me through the 94.7 Shocked

Just keep falling until you get the hang of the cleats, cos once you come right with cleats you'll never look back

Yes, but we are well aware that your consistent lack of female companionship has adversely affected you. I guess this lack of style is yet another manifestation of your woes.

Dude, toe-clips may be cool, but they're also difficult to get out of. The solution to your problems is simple: Trackstand.

Watch this, then learn it:

Lance just goes off the road, into the dirt, hops off, back on and goes on to win.

We'll get there too with practice. Wink

Know exactly how you feel. Bought a new bike within the last 3 months and I have fallen in almost every race and have also broken a cell phone in the process when landing on rocks.

Loosened the cleats a month ago as the LBS had set them too tight and this seems to be helping.

Had been riding with normal pedals on my old bike for 18 months before and the paint work on my old bike looks better than my new because of the falls although scratches are also due to riding in the mud (Illovo Eston) and scraping the mud off the bike with sticks to get it working.

After 3 months I believe that I am coming right with the cleats however I am still nervous especially on singletrack and also when going over rocks. Have scars on my knee from the falls.

TNT you have just made my day!!! Toeclips it is!!!!!Cool ill still look super cool. ill even wear a superman suit at the 94.7 ... the other roadies wont notice that i dont have the cleats thingy. yay

Well toe-clips are really cheap, R30 bucks for Giants. So give them a go as well. Only thing is to keep them loose so you can dismount fast.
