Question on XTR compatible blades

Hi, just wondering if any of you guys are using non xtr blades on xtr cranks and which blades will fit on say the M760 and m960 cranks

I have only ever seen XTR cranks on other peoples bikes and have never had set o my own by by the looks of it any shimano blade should fit on there . I know for a fact you can put about anything on a XT crank , even deore blades !

mmm ok so ur 80%sure, I need a bit more info before I buy a second hand xtr crank, the new xtr blades are around 1k a blad , at least PHEW

The new SLX middle blade is a exact replica of last years XTR... it fits perfect.... dont know about the big blade though.......

 

Only  difirence is that the plastic like insert thinge on the SLX is not Carbon.....

The chainrings on M960 cranks are NOT cross compatible with any other cranks!!! You can get non Shimano ones, Middleburn make some pretty nice ones, not sure who else. As for M760 XT as long as the BCD matches you're OK

Almost right The insert is still carbon, same as XT, but the teeth are steel as opposed to Ti as on XTR

The 970 cranks will accept only the 970 big blade however the middle blade is interchangable with XT or SLX. the 960 cranks one can get middleburn, TA Specialties or Shimano rings...
