Hi Guys

I have taken this from the sports science institute website.

Is this worth the price, taking into consideration that the sports science institute is meant to be better than the LBS.

Comprehensive Bike Setup: R750

We begin by evaluating each major joint for flexibility and stability, identifying

key risk factors for injury prevention. We then perform a comprehensive bike

fitting that includes an Ergofit measurement system and report. This is double

checked by measuring each joint angle to ensure that the predicted fit is

accurate. Finally, a Computrainer spinscan analysis is used to evaluate pedalling

action for any abnormalities.

Well.. let me tell you. Its far cheaper that way as to get injured and then go through 12 months of physio, MRI's, other scans etc etc.Dead

Would not trust any other setup than them (Dr. Jeroen Swart).

Thats just me - some might think otherwise

Hi Slowbee,

It would cost them money if I went there - if they gave me a print out of "abnormalities" I would be responsible for at least 1 rain forest being destroyed to make the paper required.

I would really enjoy to have this done. Do they have offices in Gauteng or is this only for our Capie brethren?

I dont know if the Sports Institute is in Gauteng.

But I am really thinking of getting this done. The thing with this is, they only give you a print out. You then need to translate this onto your bike.

They (sports science) dont do it on your bike in the same way cycle lab does. But I dont trust cycle lab as the last time I went some youngster did it and all he wanted to do was replace more and more parts and he could not answer one of my questions as to why he was doing what he was doing.

I have a similar problem, I don't like them either. Some guys don't like Roadies or Muddy's, I just don't like them.

Slowbee - Iv'e been to Arran Brown a couple times and he is brilliant. He's not as scientific and does not use lazers or the computrainer, but he does check your riding style and all the necessary angles etc. He also tries to work with what you have and does not tell you the bike is the wrong size and that you need to buy a new one. I think he charges about R450 per a fitting, but I may be wrong.

I had a BG fitment by Specialized done for freeBig%20smile Cost in the region of R600 - R800. That is just without new parts if you need them ie: stem, saddle, blah blah blah

guys - book at SSISA / Newlands and they will sort you out.

Not like other shop setups. its propper and with these guys you can go back and they know why they did something, not just working from a basic bike setup instruction.

At SSISA they really fit your bike to you and not just fit a bike to a rider

Same with a BG fitment done in a lab, not the workshop of your LBS.

Any chance they can fit the bike to me instead?smiley4.gif

Don't fancy surgery unless it is absolutely necessary.
