So yesterday at about 12 I went for a ride on one of my usual routes out north on cedar rd.

I turned right off cedar into the veld just past the dainfern entrance as I have a million times before.

At this spot there are ?Jambo security? offices.

Now, as mentioned, I have ridden past here many times before, but this time was different. There was a guard (no.1) standing at the ?gate? who started whistling and shouting trying to get my attention as I rode past. I don?t concern myself with idiots whistling as such an idiot could be whistling at any of the 30 pedestrians around me.

Plus, I?m not breaking my speed for someone I don?t know, or don?t care to get to know.

Then another ape (no.2) started shouting and waving his arms at me.

Again, I don?t stop for motherf***ers.

Here?s why ? ape no.3 then threw a bottle at me, but lucky for me it hit the palisade fence and shattered into hundreds of pieces instead of hitting me in the head or face.

Why did this happen?

I honestly have no idea.

I DO know however that jambo has reputation for assaulting people on two wheels at Daytona which is on the other side of the river from where I was ? a father and son were riding their mx bikes when jambo pounced and assaulted the father in front of his 5 year old, and ?confiscated? the bikes, which subsequently disappeared.

When charges were laid the police dockets also disappeared.

Jambo claims the two were trespassing on their clients? property.

I have never seen any private property signs on this particular piece of land, but even if it is private property, why would they get violent with a lone cyclist if there is a SQUATTERCAMP 200m from the entrance?!!!!!!

Do they throw bottles at the squatters too?!

Do they harass the squatters too?!

Do they stop and interrogate the 100?s of taxis that come and go on a daily basis too?!

I think not.

ja, there was a big thing on Edirt a while back. These monkeys confiscated a few bikes violently at daytona.

The cops are scared of them, so I wouldnt take them on if I was you. They basically do what they want around there

why are you cycling next to a squatter camp in the first place?

the squatters aren't the issue, you'd be surprised how friendly poor people are.

anyway, what is the problem of passing a squatter camp on a 30km route?

Personally, I think you should have stopped after the first call and found out what the ruckus was about. Maybe the property is private (there need not be a sign) rezoned, been sold, the owner dosnt want cyclists there, there could be any number of reasons to prohibit your entrance.

To me this is just another example of initial poor behaviour (not finding out what the issue was and if you were allowed to be there in the first place) which escalated into a confrontation and could have resulted in a far worse outcome.

My suggestion would be to phone Jambo and speak to a manager, ask if you are allowed to be there, if the answer is "No" thank them and say a prayer of gratitude the bottle never hit you in the face, if the answer is "Yes" make him aware of the situation, tell them you expect a written apology or you will take the matter to the newspapers. In any event, then, lay charges at the police.

i stop for NO-ONE!

that's when they grab your bike.

and the last time that happened...

a security guard at fourways crossing tried to be the hero of the day by aprehending the "raving lunatic who goes shopping for a birthday gift for his wife by bike and poses a security risk & danger to all society"

...that arsehole ate pepperspray.

kamikaze, I understand that you should stop for no-one....I am with you there all the way...but I hope that you have called Jumbo and told them about the incident, even if you are NOT allowed there...it does not give them the right to assault you....Report them and anyway....
