linnega, i encounter friendly people every day that i cycle to work.

in the spruit, if someone controlls their dogs to get them out of your way - smile and say thx. on the road, when you're waiting for the cars that turn right at the traffic light, and you want to go straight and you have right of way, and someone sees you and acknowledge your existence and stop so that you can go, smile and wave. this goes a long way.

maybe further than pamplets would ... i never read any junkmail that i get handed at traffic lights.

My daily commutes are not filled with the same courtesy, but perhaps its is a function of where I cycle?  Durban drivers aren't the best in the world.

Agreed, Rather change your attitude and actions. It will bare way more fruit thatn flyers.

But if you got the money and time to burn cool go hand out flyers. But we have so few cyclists that even obey the road rules, the time and energy would be better spent trying get the cyclists on board.

i think it might just be my perception the last few days ... the spruit is SO green and the track SO sweet ... and monday's release went particularly well, so my mood allows me to notice and acknowledge the curteous drivers and ignore the horrible ones. and i'm very lucky to have minimal interaction with motorists and traffic lights ... but i'm using the good mood as best i can.

good luck with your durbs-drivers :(

Where ever I cycle, if it is training or just to work. I generally get a welcome response. I have always had a good manner whilst cycling, I have not been scared to ride on any roads.

Thanks to all for helping out in your areas. It is appreciated.

this can only work if we get sponsors for flyers.

Getting your club involved is great & maybe they can help with sponsorship!
