SA Postage service not on!!

Here's even more of a joke than what their service (or lack of) is - direct quote from the Post Office website:  "The South African Post Office has spent R422 million and committed a further R227 million on capital expenditure to lay a solid foundation for improved delivery. This investment brings the company closer to consistently meeting delivery standards and providing excellent customer experience."

SAPO is a s-h-i-t company. Finish and klaar. Their tacking system works intermittently. There is no reason for it  not to have absolute 24/7 availability. It is built on a good, solid Oracle database with super redundancy and alerts. They're just a bunch of idiots.

At the moment it is so bad, they can't even track parcels internally, nevermind the consumers trying to do it on the Web. My Post Office is the worst one in the world.

They revamped the place and it took 28 months. It was and still is, chaos. Their chairs are so filthy a hobo won't put his Kentucky Fried empties on it. They sit on it.

I recently copied their pathetic apologetic posters and replaced it with this:

20091021_135137_Post_Office.jpg

Apolgies for the poor reproduction. I Jpged the text and made it fit in to this window.

This created quite a stir in the Post Office queue and management took two days to realise what people were gaaning on about. Most customers took it for the real thing and wrote disparaging comments on it and viscious remards in the comments book.

I often go there with a tracking number written on a piece of paper and they can't find the parcel. When I go back to my car and come back with the Amptelike Dokument, then they find he parcel.

My Post Office woes go on and on. Once I had to send wheels quickly to Polokwane. The poepol behind the counter couldn't count or add, and miscalculated the volumetric cost of the parcel. Speed Services then kept the parcel ransom. My customer was so the moer in, he came all the way from Polokwane to fetch his wheel. He's a Hubber and may confirm. I then had to threaten and cheat my way out of getting the box back to the Post Office so that I can give it to its new owner. Eventually I made the MD of Speed Services send a driver all the way from Kempton to my house, where the customer and his mother was waiting for the wheel he wanted to use at the SAs a day or two later.

They only get 3 out of 5 jobs right, the others are complete abortions.

Oh yes, the bell in my Post Office doesn't work, so you have to kick the door or beat it with a piece of furniture until someone calls secutity who then calls management. It is embarassing. The entire office, with 22 staff, have only one pisswilly cordless phone with a battery halflife of a burp. You can't phone them to open the door.

They have so much bullet proof stuff in there now that I can't even throttle anyone anymore.

I have to go there again tomorrow.

I need a drink....

PostNet' date=' boys, PostNet[/quote']

Now don't get me going on Postnet. They charge exactly double what the PO charges but use the PO infrastructure for their everyday stuff. When the PO strikes, Postnet is screwed. When PO can't track, Postnet can't track.

Happened to me just a week or 3 ago. My local Postnet got so fed up with not getting its bulk post from the Retard Office that they apparently gave up. I had to kick the door and get it myself.

I do admit that they save you lots of hassles with queuing and that, but it is only realy worthwhile for occasional stuff. A country does need a good, working post office.

POSTNET HAS ITS OWN COURIER FOR DOING DELIVERIES TO POSTNETS, OR TO PHYSICAL ADDRESSES. THE CHAIN IS COMPRISED OF 230 ODD INDIVIDUALLY OWNED FRANCHISES THAT RELY ON THE POST OFFICE FOR POSTED ITEMS BUT NOT COURIER. POSTNET TO POSTNET UP TO 2KG RECOMMENDED RETAIL R95 VS R56 FOR  SPEED SERVICES UP TO 1KG. WHAT IF THE POST OFFICE DOESN'T WORK WELL?

Yeah, I've been trying to track a whole bike i bought over the hub since last week over normal post office to post office. The only way you'll know its there is when the slips show up in your PO box telling you to pick up that package, since the tracking systems are useless now.

I have never had any trouble. When my parcel arrives the Post Office gives me a SMS telling me my goods are there. I do not even need their Post Office slip. If collecting something no need for ID,  they already know my details.

If you really want to know where your parcel is call this number. I had a couple of items coming from over the sea and got help here. Remember they are busy! 011 961 6000. They will be able to give local tracking no. and tell you where your parcel is in the system. Remember to have your original tracking no handy. smiley20.gif

Postnet Deport to Depot or other courier services Depot to Depot is sometime a better option for higher value parcels that you want to/can? track with a Waybill number.
