BigH I did go to that website. I do not have a Gmail account (and do not particularly want one either), so please take this post as my commitment.

What is this list going to achieve?

Posted

I am sorry, but creating a blogspot with a list of names are not going to achieve anything.....

Posted

Contents copied from the blog.....

Please add your name on this blog to create a list of cyclists who are serious to improve the negative image cyclists in South Africa have.

I intend to create a code of ethics for responsible cyclists who ehave well. The list below is a start. Please add suggestions to broaden the scope. I will keep up the names posted to create a comprehensive list that can be used as an example of comitted cyclists.

Code of Ethics

* improve the negative image cyclists have in South Africa
* act curteous and friendly to fellow road users
* do not block the road by riding in bunches
* if you do block the road in safe areas give way when you hold up other road users
* stop at robots and 4-way stops
* adhere to traffic rules and signs

Cyclists who want to add their name to the list (pseudonyms as used on www.thehubsa.co.za acceptable) please do. Inclusion on this list will be a commitment to become a "cyclist behaving well" and will be based on the integrity of the person.

One question about the stopping at red robots. What about the ones that only change when a car is there? I have a few near where I live and my motorbike doest trigger them? Do i wait or skip?

They are set off by a magnetic loop in the roadway. You can imporve your chances by wearing a suit of armour...... like King Arthur did or by attaching two pieces of corrugated iron to your bike.

Nice answer thx. Asked a legitimate question.

I know how they work. So it seems I will just have  to ride through them on red and anger you.
