Would you place your name on a list of cyclists "behaving well"? and subscribe to a code of ethics.

The start for the code of ethics would be:-

* improve the negative image cyclists have in South Africa
* act curteous and friendly to fellow road users
* do not block the road by riding in bunches
* if you do block the road in safe areas give way when you hold up other road users
* stop at robots and 4-way stops
* adhere to traffic rules and signs

Other items can be added later if the poll shows viable results.

I stay as far left as possible and aviod roads with no emergency lanes. So I see myself as a cyclist who behave.

Sheep and cattle is the main thing to watch out for on the road here in the states. When I go up to Golden Gate it's the baboons but they do not mind me and my bike as it is a ape machine after all.Wink

Morning Kansas, I also stay as far left as possible.

Call me a coward, but I would rather not get into a situation where I have a disagreement with a car. Even if I am right, I am dead/comatose/wheelchair bound/hospitalised (in decending order of scariness).

I keep out of the way of cars and do not get confrontational - all the driver has to do is swing left and I take up flying without any lessons. Thanks, but no.

Well I think I behave when seated at the diningroom table. but give be a 5'' mtb and some badd ass trails.. sorry man but man was not made to withstand such temptation.

But really now.. What does one do if you rode all the way to the top of a trail and then around the first corner there is some dude.. you ride behind him for a while.. then politely ask.. if you could pass at the opportunat time.. If that falls on def ears, What then?  you buzz him? he tries to stay ahead of you.. he crashes, you kindly wave as you pass and thank him for getting out the wayLOL

Im a nice guy.

....but these only apply to roadies Confused

31 for, 30 against..... hmmmm

A pretty close vote which would seem to imply that :

- Roadies think Big H is just stirring again as usual, or

- We all think Big H is an .............., or

- We just don't give a toss one way or another.

Or even a combination of all 3.

32 plays 32!

It was an idea putting the poll up to gauge the waters. I think Thug has a point (with the 3 points listed). I was in two minds as to whether to vote at all. Then I thought, I am not supporting BigH, so I voted and voted YES.

I actually take into account that other cyclists are aggressive on the road towards motorists and therefore I ride VERY defensively.

Incredible how Windbreaker, Coenie, King Compass (who suddenly remembered his old password and is not double posting anymore) and Skye (who has to applaud her hubby to keep him happy) are all shooting down my effort whilst the poll shows that there may just be a need to create such a name list.

I did create the blog but it does not seem to work well. I would like to invite ideas from cyclists how to create a list that is searchable and easily maintained.
