Rides in the Midlands?

Hey guys,

 

I was hoping for some help. A whole bunch of us are going down to the Midlands for a wedding this coming week end and we were hoping to get some nice long rides done while we were there.

 

Can anyone who knows the area help with places to ride. Preferably some off road trails. We are staying in the Nottingham Road area.

Lots & lots of riding in this area. Contact Adrenaline Cycles in Howick for trails in Howick, some superb riding. On Sunday there is an event in Mooi River http://www.mooirivermtb.com/

 

Hilton also has great riding (I live there) but won't be riding this weekend. Speak to the Guys at Wsquared cycling about routes.

The route for the michaelhouse classic (which was a couple of weeks ago) is right there. might be worthwhile to get hold of the organisers and see if you are able to ride some of the route - the course boasts some really good singletrack. Otherwise...its the midlands, you just get on your bike and ride, and you will find solitude amongst some great scenery and great tracks!

If you want quiet tar, ride from Notties out along the Lotheni road. Watch out for potholes but a scenic ride with little traffic.

Apparently the Karkloof nature reserve has some good trails.  Situated about 20km from Howick

Karkloof has some great riding but if you want a view, do the ride up to Highmoor. Its about 12km from Glengarry (which is about 35km from Notties)

so you can park your car there and ride up to the top. Its half dirt, half tar and is quite steep, but the views are worth it!!
