manxman Posted November 20, 2009 Share Hey Guys... Just a heads up here!!! Some inside scoop on a brand new cycling website that will be launched in the new year. The site will cover all things cycling in South Africa... Road, MTB, BMX, Track, Free Riding. From the site you can expect: The site will cater for 3 different avenues, your serious cyclist (a cyclist who races and likes all the latest tech etc), your fun-free-extreme cyclist (a cyclists who likes to laugh.. alot! and just enjoys their bike) and then your social cyclist (a cyclist who maybe does 2-3 races a year but actually prefers to just ride 20km to a local coffee shop and socialise with friends) All the latest news, photos and videos from local riding/racing in South Africa. Columnists (sports physiologists, coaches, bike mechanics etc) writing pieces. Rider diaries from top road, mtb and bmx professionals as wel as from the ''average joe'' rider. Rider, Team and cycling personality interviews live race commentary from selected races in South Africa Tracking of all our riders racing abroad with their race results, race calendar etc Scandal within the South Africa cycling community A social network connecting all riders in South Africa, where you will be able to share photos, videos, your views and opinions. Live online chat with pro riders, cycling personalties, training and coaching specialists as wel as with your friends. Disscussion boardsThere are also a few races that the site have plans to organise including a road stage race, pro exhibition race (150km short circuit style race) and a mass participation race- 100km for the public and 170km for the invited pro teams. These races are all sponsor dependent. Bike tours will also be organised by the site for you and your friends, or you may join some local pros and cycling personalties on rides all over the country. Riding hot spots Safe cycling campaigns Countless prizes and competitions to win And much much more...So this is just a slight taste as to what the cycling community can expect from "the real cycling media" If you have any comments, questions or ideas please feel free to msg me. Willehond Posted November 23, 2009 Share Twitter killed the Hub a long time ago. Now it's all about buying and selling and the occassional abuse thrown in for good measure. Don't think another site will be able to live in this environment

Don't think another site will be able to live in this environment Interesting observation about the change of The Hub. I have vague idea what Twitter is but please explain to me how it affects/affected this forum. Well, evryone used to share info on their rides, chat about experiences, training info and it all moved to Twitter and I miss a lot of the old Hubbers . I know you are probably only interesed in the technical discussions, but even that is few and far between. Want to know what the CSA guy are diong? Check Twitter, want to know how the DC was, check Twitter etc. etc. Twitter is fun, but a bit too 'look at me' to be healhy.
