Cyclist killed in Kraaifontein

Anyone have any more news about the cyclist that lost his life after being hit by a car yesterday?

On front page of Argus.

I used to work with him in the early nineties. Married with kids. Nice chap, friendly and enthusiastic about sport.

 

Incident happened on Bottelary Rd. Really tragic. I will get more info later today. Argus reports that police will not release his name as all the family has not yet been informed.

I hope so, but I doubt it. The one says Bottelary rd while the other refers to the Silo's outside Durbanville.

My earlier post was incorrect, the incident happened on the Stellenbosch Malmesbury rd, between the fruit sellers four way stop and the silos.

Thats awful, I had hoped he was ok....I cycled past soon afterwards and saw the bike on the side of the road and the car with its windscreen and bumper smashed, but the ambulance was already gone.

It was a big reality check for me because if I'd got up any earlier it could've just as easily have been me.
