I admire Bjarne for having the courage to come clean ... even after such a long time ... It just make me think whether he is involved with Basso's Spain Issue ... and his guilty trip is catching up with him???

Being caught I feel is much worse than coming into the open and confess!!!

no apology changes that' date=' it just brings the dishonesty into the light.

So I guess Christian principles of forgiveness do not apply in your life Porky. No matter. If the guy can come clean, make restitution as far as possible, and show he has changed (with CSC's anti-doping stance, I am sure this is the case) then we need to forgive him.

I say well done to these riders for coming clean, and support the amnesty idea. Wipe the slate clean and attempt to start again with newer, better protocols and tests and so on.

Now if only LA will confess...

I think it is coming to light now that pro cycling is doped up to the core. Its great a more and more is coming out, but more scandals will scare away big corporates who do not want to be associated with cheaters. I think amnesty talks is a step in the right direction, but it should be a confidential amesty, cycling will take years to recover from the king dopers (Lance)'s confession.

My proposal is a confidential amnesty, followed by a life ban for any caught doping. All previous titles would be forfeit if any evidence of doping comes to light, like Lance's 1999 EPO urine.

I agree with you Christie.

I think had Rijs come out at the race date and said I doped, I would say porky is wrong, but 12 or more years later - I agree, he is dishonest.!!

Yes Christy, a confidential amnesty may work, however I dont see how that can be achieved.

The sport is open to scrutiny and too much secrecy is also not good.

Certainly a public amnesty, in my opinion will achieve nothing, these guys have denied for so long now its a part of their culture, the majority will not want the fact to be made known they doped, especially if it was during a major tour and they have accepted the accolades.

No, most will chance a public amnesty and hope they are not found, but they may be enticed into a confidential one.
