...but Gauteng can be pretty too Smile

I took the pic with my phone on the Boschkop road east of Pretoria. Sun had just set, with just a few rays still showing. The full moon had already risen over the horison. (sorry for poor quality)

Those are fantastic pics. I tend to leave the camera at home a lot because it's a bit awkward to carry around but I think after seeing these I must certainly make the effort. Often I'm battling so much on a ride I forget to look around and take it all in and realise we live in a beautiful country!

Go up Tikiedraai toward Durbanvile from Bothasig circle. Turn left onto Contermanskloof Road, past the quarry on your right and on the first sharp left hander turn right onto the tar road to the farm. Farm is approx 1km up the side road on the left. Trails officially open next weekend I think.

Permit is R25.00 and season tickets will be available shortly. There is also a dam at the finish area that you are allowed to swim in, which is awesome in this heat.

Bung this in Google Earth for a better idea.

Thanks for info.  ST looks great, too.  How technical is the trail?  and length of trail? Do-able for fairly average mtb?

Trail is very do-able by average and even beginners. There is a green and a black route and even the black route is no problem for the average rider. It's about 15km long depending on the route you choose.

We seem to have hijacked this thread very neatly. https://www.bikehub.co.za/smileys/smiley17.gif

I am having some withdrawals! Need to pay a visit to the reserve. But think at this time of year it needs to be a chilled one!
