What is the difference between the types of mountain biking races you get?

Like for example marathon, stage races etc?And which is the most popular?

Well a stage race is a race with multiple stages.

A marathon race is a very long race.

MTB races are not on tar roads (otherwise they would be road races and not MTB races) so that makes them Cross Country races.

I stand to be corrected but I think that:

- Marathon > 5km

- Stage > 1 day

- Downhill: only 1 way down

- XC: any combination of the above

- Most popular: the race to the beer counter

Definitely needs correcting. Check your marathon distance. Big%20smile

Check out the UCI website...

I think I remember it as...

All offroad, MTB style events

XC - less than 2 hours for the winners, normally lap style racing round 35-40 km, generally highly technical.

Half Marathon - 45 km

Marathon - 60 -90 km

Ultra, UCI marathon - 3 to 4 hrs for top elite, 90 + km

Check me, but I think it gives a good picture..
