advice on bike size

How do you determine the size of a bike and how do you know what will be the right size for you or anything else on bike size.

test a few (if you can) see what works...

for ex: MTB you may perfer a smaller bike with a longer seat post to suit your riding style.

So, your frame is too big for you then.

Silly people. Slowtwitch might be on a compact frame, in which case the size could really for real be right for his height...

Only if it's a compact frame. Otherwise it's WAY off.

1.89 and a standard 54cm frame 120mm stem 175mm cranks BB/ top saddle - 810mm

 

I like an aggressive setup with a smaller frame for added stiffness etc, but not for the faint hearted I must admit

 

58 is my "correct" size

This is a guideline we use  and works well to give you a idea where to start ,once you have your size you need to try the bike as it could go up or down or stay the same . I ride a 59 Bianchi road frame and a 20? mtb.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 

Eg : my inside leg is 90cm x .65 = 58.50cm thus a 59cm fits me well

 

For mtb take 58.50 cm ? 10cm = 48.50 divide this with 2.54 ( to convert to inches ) = 19.09 ?  thus I?m on a 20? mtb

 

As I said this is a guideline , and helps you know where to start.

 

To get a accurate inside leg measurement stand with no shoes on and back against the wall . take a spirit level and pull it up as far as you can into your grown , keeping it level take a tape measure and measure from the top of the level to the ground.
