What is the rear shock travel between the two bikes?

If I am not mistaken the travel on the rear shocks is:

Scott = 120mm

Merida = 96mm (hence the name)

Front forks are both 120mm, I believe...

I have the 2010 alu Merida 3000. It is schaweeeeet! But then... I came from a 6-year-old FUJI hard-tail with v-brakes...  so comparisons are quite hard. Absolutely love it - fit me perfectly and is specced way above my current mtb abilities, but the plan is obviously to "grow into" it. (Yeah, the dark side has engulfed me - or have I embrased it?)

The bike just feels supremely natural to me and I just feel more confident in what I'm doing. Yes, that includes still bliksimming down every ride on my new challenge - singletrack.Pinch Only way to learn, I suppose... I can catch drifts, front wheel slides, everything just happens - it's really the most "natural"-feeling bike I've ever ridden. But that's for me... you may end up not liking the thing at all. Go ride them, best advise I can give.

Travel on the "rear shock" for the 96 is only 50mm.

Due to the (almost) 1:2 ratio on the rear suspension, that's how you end up with 96mm of rear travel.

Just bought a 96 3000 , i got it the friday night before the Sabie classic . got on it for the first time at sabie after being off a mtb for 9 years and pulled out a 4h30 on the 75km. why im telling you this is i never once in that ride got uncomfotable or sore, the single track was awsome and the 96 in my opinion ROCKS !!!! what a bike.

This is SOOO f-ing annoying! I finally have the money I need to buy my 96, and now Merida suppliers are out of stock. Apparently only getting my size (XL) in at end of month!!! Been waiting for 2 weeks now, another 3 weeks of waiting ahead. Eish. Thought that the Attakwas would be the retirement race for my Hard Tail, but had to do the MTB argus on it as well (not fun!). Can't wait for the damn thing to arrive! KOM NOU!!! smiley17.gif
