Ok guys I know there have been many threads and many devides on the subject but my current bonty jones xr team tubeless ready okies are at then end of their short life(ok only the back but  im gonna change both)

so I'm looking for new tyres.

Im looking for a light set, good rolling, reasonably grippy with good cornering nobs.  2.0 -2.2, under 500g.

Im mainly doing xc races/riding and marathon events in dry/rocky areas in Gauteng and surrounds.

They must be fittable/romaveable on a ztr 355 rim as the current tyres only the shop can remove so if i were to cut them I can't get a tube in.  Thus I want foldable tyres, no snake skin or such additions please.

I will be running them tubeless with the stans olympic rim strip and 60g sealant on ztr 355 tims on my hardtail.

I DON'T want - Tubeless/LUST/UST tyres. Might go for TNT/tubeless ready(unsure if this relates to stronger bead and thus sitting on the rim).  Tyres I don't like are Karmas, Crossmarks/Larsen.

I'm considering -

The new Maxxis Aspen (475g for a 2.0 foldable at R350 !!!)

Schwalbe Rocket Ron front and rear or front with Racing Ralph back(depending how the Ron rolls)

Spesh Fast Track LK or the new Renegade 2blis(460g)

Kenda fast track 8 ? Weights ?

Geax barro race @ 380g 2.0 foldable, very light but the grip and durability ??? or then the Mezcal or even a saguro on the front...

Conti Raceking with a mountain king front, both supersonic/black chili.

Hutchison I've heard get cut allot, so stay away ?

So fire away the suggestions ;)

Thanks,

WW.

Have a look at Intense Tyres - System 2. Both my kids will be racing on them this year. Lighter than the Karmas, roll fast and really grippy.

My son is the most fussy person about which tyres he uses and he thinks that they are great.

Sorry I just couldnt resist Weight Weeny. Wink

Brighter lights have posted a very handy list of tires that he has raced and tested on the last thread like this. If you can find that thread you will have a nice and large selection that is tried and tested. He seems to know his stuff. I just cannot remember what the thread was called. but search a bit.
