Just a thought! <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I have been a racing license holder for 20years and there used to be a benefit that as a licensed rider I get to start in a licensed rider racing group.

Now I have to pay R300 for a racing license that?s only benefit is to ride provincial and national champs for which I have to pay an inflated entry fee. I want to support my province but R300 vs R75 just for 2 events is ridiculous.

Why CSA! does there have to be a differentiation if there is not real benefit. Joe soap can still start next to me at national events with his R75 Cyclosport license.

Why not have one license, one price for everyone as it used to be in the past?

As I have it you will still have a much better starting time as a licenced rider - at least in Gauteng that is

eg Fast One this weekend

Vets 40-44 - 6:10

Open A - 6:45

According to CSA a cyclosport license holder can start alongside a full racing license holder as long as thier seeding index is right for the group.

One of our club members with a Cyclosport license got put the Elite buch of one of the races. The poor guy got dropped in the 1st 5km's.

IF you are saying that you what preferential treatment because you have the money o buy a full racing license then you are surely smoking pot. If I am misunderstanding your statement I apologize. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

If you want to be in a separate group than the "normal" cyclo licensed riders then you will have to do a better qualifying time?

Just a thought...

I know of a rider who rode in one of licensed vets categories just to escape the heat of the day. From C / G / J bunch I invariably rode better times than what he did after being dropped in the first few kilometers...

I'd say it is fair to seed races according to ability, and not a piece of paper.

On the MTB side the way I understand it is that the cyclosport licence allow you to ride your category in mountain bike events but something like the nationals which is UCI sanctioned, requires a full race licence.

MTB doesn't have a seeding system as yet, hopefully soon.
