my son crashed on the Bakwena in 2008 and the Giro helmet took a knock so we replaced it.  My daughter has crashed on the Velodrome in cpt 2009, Eric van enter 2009, Schools mtb rietvlei 2009 and we replaced the helmet each time as she always manages to fall on her head..thank goodness for the replace policy which although it was not 100% at least reduced the financial burden..(Giro x2, Specialized X1)

For what its worth I had two accidents with my Las. The helmet did protect my nut and slightly damaged but not to the extent that needed immeadiate replacing. I know I should have replaced, which I eventually did after I had washed the hemlet and tried to dry in front of the oven and melted the plastic clips - I know doff!

Take it to the bikeshop, they should know how to handle it.  They/you will fill in a replacement form from Bell/Giro.  If your Bikeshop is nice, they will let you take a free one/pay 30% for a new one until the claim is settled.

If they are not keen to do that, like CycleLab did with me, you have to pay 100% for the new one and get your refund when the claim is settled!
