To all the experienced riders out there!  Please comment on our weekly/monthly training regimen. Most of our riding is hard ie hills etc and I am finding it difficult to put in 13hrs as in weeks 1 & 2, therefore we have scaled it back.  Currently starting week 6.

Your comments are very much appreciated.  Our objective is to do a 14.5hr Sani2c.  What do you think?

TRAINING:

Week 1: Tues 3hr; Wed Pilates; Thurs 3hr; Fri Pilates; Sun 5hr

Week 2: repeat week1

Week 3: Wed Pilates; Thurs 3hr: Fri Pilates: Sun 5hr

Week 4: repeat week3

Week 5: Wed Pilates; Fri Pilates: Sun 5hr

Week 6: Tues 2hr; Wed Pilates; Thurs 2hr: Fri Pilates; Sun 2hr

Weeks 7 & 8: repeat week 6

Week 9:  Tues 2hr

Week 10 Sani2c

What is your cycling backround? How many years road/mtb?

Dont understand the pilates story, some weeks you doing more pilates than riding the bikeConfused.Factor in the time you take to drive to the class,do the class and drive home you missing what could be a good ride there.Dont get caught by the time in the saddle story. Its what you are doing when you train not how much.Did all my epics on around 10hrs week.Intensity is the name of the game and dont do the junk miles.

I would somewhere try and do 3 days in a row even if one day is just 30min just so you will know what it is like to ride for 3 days.I would skip a few pilates classes and use the time for a recovery/fat burning ride. The more weight you can loose before sani the better.

Good luck

Good luck.

Thanks stringbeanSmile

2005 through 2008 was mostly weekend warrior stuff.  2009 was the first year that I improved on a MTB.  Averaged about 5hrs per week during peak MTB season.

The intensity of our current rides is above average.  My teamie and I rarely storm the hills together.  Its all about who crests first.  The Pilates has been quite an eye opener.  The core was very weak and its a pity that my Pilates classes only started in week 1 and not 3 months prior.  Alot of muscle ache from lunges etc.

I think I will scale back Pilates to one per week and fit in an extra recovery ride.

Have you any advice for HR%?  My average HR for all my rides is 152 (max 195).  Should I be fitting in easier rides HR wise?Ying%20Yang

Just got an entry today....replacing an injured partner.
And woohooohooo I am fitter than my partner. smiley4.gif smiley4.gif

Hold onto that thought, it can change quickly Big%20smile  My partner and I are almost even. If anything he has been the cause of me hitting the wall more times than me being the cause of him hitting the wall.

Yesterday was a good day for me.  90kms in 4h39, 1600m ascent......

Not sure if this is conducive to a good Sani thoughLOL
