Ghostface Posted February 3, 2010 Share the two road frame sets that will be availible in SA will be the TCR ADV SL ISP at around R25500.00 and the TCR ADV at around R15 300.00 http://www.giant-bicycles.com/_generated/_generated_in/bikes/models/images/700/2010/2000-TCR_Adv_SL_ISP_frame.jpg http://www.giant-bicycles.com/_generated/_generated_in/bikes/models/images/700/2010/2000-TCR_Adv_frame.jpg

Ghostface Posted February 3, 2010 Share so SL is only ISP in SA> taking special orders for SL without ISP? Just enquiring btw We only seem to have requests for either a well priced Composite frame or the top level performance frames. With the new seatpost clamp, that gives much more adjustability once the post is cut than the 2008 models, the ISP frames are being quite well received. GoLefty!! Posted February 4, 2010 Share is the new seatpost clamp compatible with 2007 and 2008 models?
Ghostface Posted February 4, 2010 Share Yes it is. It is just has a "deeper" clamping area and comes with more spacers allowing for more height adjustability. Some people who had the older 07/08 frames cut the seatpost down to suit their riding style/size (as you are supposed to) and then had problems when it came to selling them to other/taller riders. With the new clamp, the chances that the post being too short for another rider,is minimized. Ghostface2010-02-04 09:47:

Now a couple of other questions since you are clearly a Giant tech guru. the new saddle clamp, does ithave more fore aft adjustability. the 07/07 models were poor in this area. and lastly, the headset design used in the 07/08 frames was not a very good design and required a lot of work to keep them running true and smoothly, can I fit a Chris King Inset headset to the 07 TCR Advanced ISP. CAn I order the new seat clamp from my LBS or is its a non saleable item? thanks for your time, I'm sure you're busy

GoLefty!! Posted February 4, 2010 Share amazing how perceptions work. Giant, tour de france level frame, biggest darbon frame manufacturer in the world, producing some of the most Advanced frames around (see what I did there), and the name does not cut it... just plain weird

Now a couple of other questions since you are clearly a Giant tech guru. I work for Dragons Sports (Giant) the new saddle clamp, does ithave more fore aft adjustability. the 07/07 models were poor in this area. From Giants site: EXTRAS: Seat collar, Vector CompositeSL seatpost (adjustable 10mm or23mm offset)and lastly, the headset design used in the 07/08 frames was not a very good design and required a lot of work to keep them running true and smoothly, can I fit a Chris King Inset headset to the 07 TCR Advanced ISP.I really don't know what aftermarket headsets will fit. I'll look into it though. I wasn't working for Dragons back in 07 but I don't recall there being problems with the 08's either. The problem with the 09 headsets was actually the forks bearing race and not the actual headset or frame. This was solved very quickly and easily. CAn I order the new seat clamp from my LBS or is its a non saleable item? Your LBS can call us and order a SC-09 thanks for your time, I'm sure you're busyYOU DONT EVEN KNOW! GoLefty!! Posted February 4, 2010 Share Thanks Ghostface, You've been a great help. will appreciate it if you could determine if the CK INSET will fit. I would like to fit a headset that cradles the bearings and retains them rigidly. The FSA system used in most integrated headsets is not a great design. it requires a delicate balance between preload and steering freedom to ensure the headset does not displace itself during riding. The CK Inset retains the bearings rigidly and therefore allows longer bearing life and less maintenance. Other than that the '07 TCR Advanced ISP has been a fantastic bike that punches way above its price.
Ghostface Posted February 5, 2010 Share http://chrisking.com/headsets/hds_inset Just checked the Chrisking site and NO! that Inset won't work on a Giant road frame. The inset is a "semi intergrated" headset for MTB bikes, where the Giant Road bikes take a "fully intergrated" headset. The site acutally has a photo of a Giant Anthem frame with the Inset fitted. Here is a fully intergrated headset: http://www.trailheadcycles.com/cache/www.wiggle.co.uk_images_hope-integrated-headset.jpgAnd here is the semi intergrated headset: http://assets1.bikepimp.co.uk/system/files/products/0609/4508/giant_xtc_headset_large.jpg Very different indeed. (The 2009 onwards takes a tapered headset with 1 /18 and 1 /14 bearings)Ghostface2010-02-05 02:25:
