I recall about 6 months ago a discussion about these and aslo some guys bringing in these frames into the country.

I thought that by now there should be a decent review or two on actual performance of these carbon frames (MTB spesifically) - from Hubbers that

ordered and has been using them up to now.

Anyone care to comment?

Apricot Jam was selling them - the comments seem to be good

Pain to order and get delivered though - I ordered one from Ebay in November, and it is still 'in transit' - it has arrived in Durban though!

I spent some time investigating the Carbon HT frame as an option. Stumbled upon this thread after hours of googling.

I decided to order the frame via Apricot Jam (http://www.DVbicycles.com). Unfortunately with Chinese shipment I still haven't received my frame and it's a month later.

Had to make another plan in the meantime.

I think it's a worthwhile exercise if you are not in a hurry to get the frame.

The problem seems to be (according to the Chinese seller) that SAPO will not accept frames (road bike) as Air Freight as, apparently, the box is too big - therefore they have to 'come surface - which takes 3 months

(or it will be around that when, hopefully, I get mine)!

It should be remembered that these frames generally use lower grade of carbon and resins but generally the quality is good and meets the needs of at least 90% of the Argus cycle tour participants

I wonder if they do 'use a lower grade of carbon and resins' - if they are making frames for other 'brand names', I'm sure that the difference in cost of the carbon and resins would not make it wortwhile, and they probably just use the same raw materials - possibly the 'layup' is less sophisticated and not optimised (possibly giving the same strength and stiffness, but with a slight weight penalty - they seem to way around the 1,100g mark as opposed to the 800 - 900g mark)

OK, I will review these links...Thanks guys!!

But I also want to hear if any Hubbers have experiences to relate....other than still waiting for shipments (~3months surface mail)...

Keep us posted....

After reading up on these as much as possible, I'm going to buy one of their MTB frames. (just need to recover a little after buying everything but the frame).

This is their website: http://www.flyxii.com

I e-mailed them and a guy by the name of Yong was very quick to respond on all my questions.

For $415 I will get the following:

- Frame FLY-FR001 - disc only, there is another one that accepts V brakes, but if you're going to use discs you'll have those 2 V brake brackets sticking out the back like little frog eyes.

- Seatpost

- Handlebar

- Headset

- Stem

- Seat clamp

- Shipping

All carbon except the shipping.

With tax that works out to around R3700

I'll post once I get stuff
