Slipping seatpost!!!

My carbon seatpost keeps slipping down. I have a carbon frame and is too scared too over tighten it. Advice please!!!

You get a special "carbon" paste that works a treat... most decent bke shops stock it.

PS! ask  them to do it for you coz it's sh!t expensive.

Your LBS should have a grease that you use to prevent the post from slipping.Using it on my bike and it works great.

Saw my knees coming past my ears on Sunday. Looked like I was riding BMX. My clamp has two settings on for normal and one for carbon whats the difference.

The most obvious thing to do is use a torque wrench. That way you can safely tighten the post without cracking the carbon fibre. This, in conjunction with the carbon grease, should solve your problem.

what make is the seatpost

I once had the same problem with an Alien seatpost, only to find out they have a short life span and need to be replaced every 2 years or so??

 

So now I have an alu seatpost

Its a bloody expensive itm seatpost, was also wondering if the thing has not cracked could not find any cracks though!!

What torque should I tighten it to????

 

If it is not marked (this is the case I assume) go onto the manufacturers website and check for the setting there. I think that 5-8 Nm is safe, but rather make sure as I don't have insurance.Wink
