After the Sabie classic, my Santa Cruz developed a creaking noise. I stripped the linkages, greased all the bearings and reassembled. The creaking was still present. So I greased the seatpost. No go. Next was the bottom bracket. No go. I replaced the head set bearings. Still the creak. And it got worse. After a re-examination of the headset, I saw some play. I thought the cup was loose. Not so. See the creaking crack in the cup.

This S3 headset had less than 10000km on the clock. Goodbadugly2010-03-10 14:05:12
