Had A training ride at Roodeplaat dam today and rode back up, minding our own business, riding two abreast 1.5 meters from the shoulder.  This d1psh*t comes from behind misses me by millimeters and immediately  swerves to take out the cyclists, missed the by millimeters too, then proceded to harrass the other cyclists in the group trying to push them onto the shoulder.

When "asked" to pull over and saw the LOOK in my eyes he just lloked in front and kept on driving  mommy dearest nwho was sitting next to him really let him have it, she just would not stop.

Now my question is was he born dumb or did he become it when he got behind the wheel, was this his normal way of driving or just when he sees other cyclists or slower road users.

Did not even have a great car a normal Opel Kadett.

This was the only insident of note that made the day  have a sour taste all the other motorists were cosiderate and accomodating just this one arseh0le incident.

Now please help me how do we educate motorists that we too have a right to use the road???

I had a similar thing happen to me when I lived in Franschoek. On the road from Helshoogte to Franschoek a guy in a sparkly new Ferrari almost hit me of my bike.

Franschoek being a small town with not many Ferraris in it, I soon found the said idiot, I simply walked up to the young lady he was with and offered her a lift home in my bakkie as I felt a lady of her beauty would be safer driving with me that with the said idiot.

She simply smiled and said she would make sure the he never drove like that again.

It was really funniny watching Casonova groveling.LOL

I think its important that you react in the right way in any given situation, I was once hit by a young coloured guy outside the Sandton Clinic, un lucky for him I did not fall, lucky for me  he had to stop at the traffic lights, a taxi driver who saw the whole thing pulled next to him got out and bliksemed him, I had to ask the taxi driver to get a punch in.

That fool will never mess with a cyclist or a taxi ever again.

use pepper spray!

kidding, the thing is if you react violently, you amost become as dumb as them. think of the bad press the tour de frans group got when they bliksemmed that old dude in bedfordview. i know someone who witnessed it, and he said it was really ugly to watch.

don't know if it's legally possible, but if you can why not note the reg number and open a case of attempted murder at the nearest cop shop? pursue, the irritation value to the driver will be worth it.

What I do not understand is how do you think it is still safe when you ride 1.5 meters in from the shoulder. That is in the middle of the lane.

The people around Roodeplaat is so fed up with cyclists riding all over the road. I think they will take the law into their own hands to sort cyclists out. In the past this did happen.

Then with a car behind, you hold up traffic. Do you really think the car makes it safer. I think the irritation factor for motorists is just so much higher. Backup cars go a long way in giving the cycling community a bad name.

think big mamma's just given a positive answer to your question' date=' sammajoor[/quote']

Why only with one motorist and did you not know that a cyclist has right of way on a road from the yellow line to 1.5 meters from there, but of course we all know that the first big m was banned when is the other gonna be removed was nice and quiet without it

a Back up vehicle is there for the protection of the cyclist, and without me there would really have been a problem

sorry sammajoor, what i mean is that motorists are born dumb (kinda like she acts most of the time), so her post was a positive affirmation of the question you posed.
