I'm sure if your powerlink came loose it was not installed properly. You need to clip it in place and then you pull the side plates apart for the pins to sit properly in the recessed spaces. I use the YBN 9spd one on my MTB and 10spd road one (a true re-usable one) on my road bike. I shift while climbing out of the saddle and never had any problems.

Daar is iets bekend aan hierdie Moegoe...... damn!!!!!!! ek kan net nie my vinger daarop le nie!!!!!!!

thats the weirdest thing. I had a HG53 chain but had to use it now as a chainwhip cause it was too short with buying a new crankset & all, but also use powerlinks 9spd which are gold in color & it works/worked 100%. Ive now upgraded to the HG73 ( XT ) chain & it works 100% again aswell

Was the HG 53 chain new and packaged when you purchased it?????? A new chain should have 114 links at least as far as I have it. If it did not have that amount of links somebody cheated you and you should take it up with those where you purchased it.

What is a "true" re-usable link. I use SRAM 10 speed chain, I re-use the power chain link supplied with chain. I have read that one should only disconnect link once.

exactly, you should only use it once but with pliers you can undo it and re-use it again. The YBN one is just like the 9spd one. You can easily unclip it and refit it on the side of the road.

yup it was packaged & sealed in that selophane wrapping stuff staright from CRC, but nunu me didnt think i was gonna need to extra links when i initially shortened it & misteriosly hid them away where i cannot find them anymore so thats the reason i couldnt extend the chain again & had to go buy a new one. I really can kick my arse cause it now cost me like R340.00 unnessarcily however i cant complain i got a better chain than i initially had albeit the other chain only having about 500km on it

The way I understand "not to re-use" is that once it is on do not remove. if you remove 10 speed link, use new link. 10 speed SRAM link not to be re-used like the 9 speed link. I could be wrong.

What you should do and what people do in real life is two different things. People here on the Hub have re-used it with success.
