Anyhow ... whatever there is, I'm looking forward to lots of fun & adventure in new MTBing territory no, not that bad. Just tough on your butt and back after 80km odd in the saddle. This race is flat, no downhills so there is very few places to stand freewheel and stretch out on either days 100km stages.

Yes 2 units between water tables is plenty. The water tables are well stocked with food, chocolate, USN, water, whisky etc.
