Hi guys.

I'm curious - what would a pro rider require from a worthwile sponsor?

Is it a salary, bike/s, components & kit, with medical aid, travelling support, race administration and travelling allowance etc? Would a coach and training facilities have to be included?

What would peek a rider's interest. When does one become a 'prorider'?

Essentially, and without neccessarily getting personal, how expensive is such a venture? What could be required from "the reasonable sponsor".

I think you become a 'pro' rider in sa when your main activity is training and racing and you may make a small salary out of it..most of the time you'd have some other part time interest too - I wouldnt have thought there is enough racing in SA to warrent a full time pro..unless the team rode overseas every year for a stint inwhich case sponsorship amounts would soar. it also depends on the number of riders in the team and back up crew -manager/coach/mechanic/massuer etc..

seriously. pm colonel and cruxpearl. they've got some idea about running a team. or why not get hold of microsoft, barloworld, konica-minolta and sit them down over a drink and ask what you need to know.
