Hi Guys,

Doing the Karoo to coast on Sunday, and with my bloody luck I fell ill,3rd time this year.I don't know what it is(cold, flue, aids).I've not got a sore throat,no coughs, just dizzy.

How dangerous is it to take part in a bike race, straining ones heart ect.....

I've heard of guys training when they were sick and had to get heart transplants!!hectic, don't want that, but I really want to do the race.

Any sound advice???

cheers

If you feel ill, don't. If it's just a head cold probably OK. Just don't fool yourself that you're well enough to ride. See your GP if you're undecided and get proper medical advice specific to your condition. We don't know your vitals or full symptoms.

If in doubt, don't! (Sorry)

Tried riding the outsurance out ride on saturday after having Sinus problems the whole week and unfortunately bombed out in 7km,I guess it means never ride when u not feelin well.

I ride when I am sick if I feel ok but not if not so ok. But thats training rides and then at a very easy pace, and mostly on the flat. It more just to getin my daily fix. But racing is a whole other story.

I also had that feeling kinda sick but more dizzy than sick feeling last week Saturday, decided to go do an easy 10km in majik forest. Next day i was out for the count, sore through, ears blocked and sore at times. and stuck with this dry cough. and its now more than week later and I still feel like i did last Sunday.

So nope dont think its the best idea.
