This can then be incorporated with the koppie on the east side of Gen. Louis Botha.

 

That's Faerie Glen Nature Reserve. You could cycle there a couple of years back. It's relatively small, so you could only do about 10 - 12kms there (and that's with doing some bits twice). Still, you could combine it with another route and have some fun inside the reserve. You are not allowed to cycle there anymore, though. Problem is that there aren’t different trails for hiking and cycling.

I tried to ride up the mountain once from the far side (not the concrete steps) and I almost died! More carrying than cycling! coming down the concrete steps/path was a bit hair-raising as well!

And if you had rain and a lot of mud it is quite a challange!

The Faerie Glen reserve is excellent for some trail running. And its only R5. Cycle there, do a quick 5k and cycle back home. Works great as a brick session
