Same here! I have been neglecting my PC!

You need the PC to gather the downloaded data from the expensive gadgets attached to the bike! :P

I know the feeling... Got smoked at a race in KZN on my Giant NRS by a guy on a steel framed MTB wearing rugby shorts, takies and a horse riding helmet!

Still spending the grocery money on upgrades and bling though!

Interesting thread! Walk into a shop and you want to buy shoes for work and you think WTF, R500 for work shoes! Go to a cycling shop, mmm shoo wee, these shoes for R1500.00!! Two pairs please! haha. I always think, Mr Price clothes for every day, expensive stuff for the bike!

Imagine how much money MrPrice would make if they stocked proper cycling gear, it could be a onestop shop for most of us.

I think i spend because i think its magically going to compensate for my poor technique, cmon the better the goods the better i will perform

Maybe i should hook up with Capri so he can teach me how to corner properly, I inevitably want to see how fast I can actually take that corner before falling, the drawback to this technique is you have to fall before you realize where the limit is lol.

I'm fine with spending on anything cycling related be it drinks or cables. But I cannot spend on casual clothing. I'll rather wear a Pep stores jean pant just so that I can buy a R300 mini pump.

Haha, yep, it's potentially problematic when you've got more cycling clothes than casual clothes! Can relate!

Whatcha get

Its my old GT Avalanche 0.5(brushed Ali frame with red decals), had an upgrade to SLX crankset, XT front & rear mech, upgrade to 27 speed with XT shifters & cassette, full length cable upgrade, some red KCNC anodised bling(seat post clamp, bottle cage, bolts in crankset) also new red/black grips. She is smiling now:) - content in the knowledge she will be ridden again after being neglected for a while. Also had my Marzocchhi forks fully serviced and my hope brakes serviced as well. The wife she is going to probably kill me, but Ive got her a day at a spa lined up so should be ok:unsure: . I'll put some pics up when she is all done. Now for toast for dinner, lol.

Doc said I would be ok, so no anti -biotics for me.My leg shouldnt develop gangrene and fall off. So happy days. Im riding monday again no matter what, its doing he head in:blink: not being able to ride.

Also just found out the wife is doing Police Comissioner, Beki Cele's wedding for tommorow(wedding co-ordinator/planner/decoration hire) and there have been so many late extras added to her orders her commision just went off the richter scale. Its funny how(no offense meant) that black folk looooove to have their weddings done by white folks(so much of prestige), but there has to be an African person just thrown in(token African) for good measure. It was the same when she did one of Jacob Zumas weddings recently.

So Im hoping she will share the wealth with me a bit, and buy me some food ;) I did just buy her a bike as well, so she better:)

I cant tell you enough how important core & weight training is. Not too much weights, but it definatly helps in maintaining the right lines while riding, and being able to hold on in critical technical stuff  Ive still been doing a lot more core(especially stomach & lower back) & strength training training at the gym, as well as cross training and spinning. And my fitness, riding and climbing abiltiy have dramatically improved.

judging by the number of threads with pictures of everybody's faithful steed(s), most of us spend far more on the bikes than ourselves so here's a challenge: anybody brave enough can start a thread posting pictures of the body vs the bike to see whose getting the balance right :P
