I imaging the 500 is all wireless.

I had an issue with a polar where i placed the magnet for the speed on the rear wheel so I can gather data on my IDT and it wouldn't read.

My Cateye V3 is fine but I like the added features of this unit.

500 is fine for this?

All wireless.

If you want to run it on the rollers/IDT, you have to go the Candence/Speed sensor route but placed on the back, it works 100% fine!

Ek dink wat hy probeer se, is dat die cadence/speed sensor by die agter wiel instaleer word. As jy op in IDT is, skakel jy die GPS funksie af en dit tel automaties die speed sensor op.

as an fyi......Speed on the 500 (as in 305 and 705 and i would presume the 800 as well) is always taken from the magnet first and foremost (if installed on bike), secondly from GPS function. On set up for the bike/cadence sensor option you can either enter your wheel size or not. If you choose not to , it (wheel size) will automatically be picked up by the satelite the next time you ride and this info dumped into the 500 CPU's memory automatically.

No need to manually switch off GPS function on 500 when indoors for IDT workout, it will automatically know that you are indoors.....after not locating sats, screen message "Unable to locate sats, are you indoors?" will appear. Enter "yes".

Never seen or used the 500 but it can only be better than the 305, in fact assuming how far you have been and how fast you are going is better than the 305

I wouldnt know, I dont use a magnet for speed on my bike. Only one for cadence.

That is 3g weight savings man, get with the program! ;) (just shows you how much I use the IDT, I hate that thing)

So you only have the cad sensor and no magnet attached to rear spoke?

yup, 3g is 3g!

My readings are purely gps.

Aaaaaahhhh, the light comes on  Now I know why your distance's of rides are always so wrong :D :D :D

Speed reading from the magnet based on wheel size (inputted at bike setup function or automatically picked up from your intial movement after intial setup of device) is the only way to go for "to the meter" accuracy. By cheating yourself of 3g, you are cheating yourself of mundo km's in the long run :D :D ;)

:P  :P ja I calibrated it in the beginning and then took it off.

my distances are only wrong when you guys forget that your homes are further from the starting point than mine! B)

If my km reading is less than the actual km's done and yours are more, who is cheating? ;)
