Got this mail from Netcare 911. Anyone know the woman in question? Is she okay now?

A female cyclist is in a critical condition after being run down by a taxi along Modderfontein road in the Edenvale area this morning at around 08 25. It is purported that the rider was in the yellow lane while training for the 94.7 race when she was hit from behind by a taxi.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene to find her lying on the roadway with suspected spinal injuries and fractures of the arm and leg. After the patient was skilfully immobilised on a spinal board they transported her to the Netcare Linksfield hospital for the care that she required

Article in the Beeld this morning. Happened in Modderfontein. Apparently hit by a Taxi. The guy tried to get away but a witness in another car managed to catch him.

Damn. Not one of our club members AFAIK, unless she was riding on her own. We rode out to Springs yesterday. I hope she recovers fully.

Do they? Any evidence to indicate he's more likely to get off than a rich Sandton BMW driver?

I doubt a taxi driver has the money or the political connections to manipulate the system. That just leaves run-of-the-mill incompetence, not some 'brother' saving conspiracy.
