Mojoman Posted November 10, 2010 Share Was think of converting my old bike into a single speed but I see the single speed cog & spacers are only for 8/9 speed. I still have a 7 speed! By the time I have finished getting a new wheel and brakes, cables, and levers etc for what I need, it may just be easier to buy a new one or at least a new frame with the proper drop out on the rear. Does anyone have any suggestions in the JHB area or online?

BBN Posted November 10, 2010 Share Go to eBay UK and type in 'single speed converter', you will get a good idea of what is available.
Mojoman Posted November 11, 2010 Share I went to Cajees at Princess Crossing this morning and picked this up for R1300. I don't think its too bad, granted its all no name parts but I think its not too bad for someone wanting to see if single speed is for him. Just changed the tyres and grips and pedals. Taking it through the veld this afternoon and will see how it goes (or rather how my legs go!).
