Did about 15km with the single speed. What fun! No clanging chain when bouncing over rocks, no thumbing around looking for the right gear! Was a bit heavy on the legs but thats OK, will get used to that. Am even thinking about replacing my fork on my GT with a carbon fibre one or something, its amazing how much more power you seem to have with the rigid single speed. Money well spent for once!
