this is from a sapa report i came across:

An independent economic impact study carried out on the Amashova in 2005 by Singh & Associates, revealed that the annual road cycling race generated a direct economic boost of more than R12 million.
This figure included spending on accommodation (R2.7 million), food (R1.9 million), transport (R4.3 million), entertainment (R0.7 million) and shopping (R0.6 million), with the remainder made up in peripheral categories including cycle equipment.

That stats definately does not take my spending into consideration. I enter the race, go by train, do the race, drink ONE Beer at the finish, swim in the sea, eat a steak at the Spur at the Casino, get back on the train and go home.

Alas, the last of the big spenders!!

Cost for Amashova train is R750 this year. I believe its the last time such trains will be running as spoornet has a problem with sleep over trains.

If this is true the better start making alternate plans for Argus.
